2022 Fleming Award Winner Announced

The BGA is pleased to announce that the 2022 Fleming Award was won by BAE Systems, Atkins, Bachy Soletanche for their project presentation on Ground improvement for a seismically qualified facility. The event was held in front on a live audience at the ICE in London on 6 December 2022. The event was also webcast live.

Yvonne Ainsworth, chair of the judging panel said ‘All the presentations described excellent and challenging projects. The winner has a well structured presentation which showed a collaborative client/contractor/consultant approach to deliver a project in complex geology. In their own words they said they were faced with the most onerous performance conditions in the most unfavourable ground conditions’.

During judging a short keynote lecture was given by Sergio Solera of Mott MacDonald on The Design and Construction of New Tidal Barrier and Quay Walls at the Port of Boston, UK.
