Synopsis

Artificial Ground Freezing has been successfully applied on many ground engineering and tunnelling projects all over the world in the last few decades. It is recognized as a reliable and environment friendly method of ground improvement to enable the save excavation and construction of underground structures. The growing demand to improve urban public transport and infrastructure has even increased the need to work in difficult ground condition under complex existing structures.

The presentation will give an historic overview and will explain the working principle of ground freezing. Furthermore, ground investigation, design and execution steps are shown. Finally, case studies of recent international freezing projects will be presented.
