An Offshore Engineering Society Event.
Offshore wind has become an established contributor to the energy needs of the UK and overseas and offshore wind turbines are becoming an increasingly common sight along some stretches of the British coastline.
Ramboll Energy’s Wind & Towers Division has been established for over a decade and is responsible for the detailed design of more than half of the offshore wind turbine foundations installed worldwide on 37 projects. As well as monopile foundations – by far the most commonly used to date – more recently Ramboll has delivered a number of jacket foundation designs and is currently developing a number of projects of both types.
This talk will describe the different foundation solutions being used and developed, the lessons learnt so far and the challenges to be faced in the years to come as the Crown Estate Round 3 wind farms begin to enter the construction phase.
