Postponement of 60th Rankine Lecture until Autumn 2021

Due to the current conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the BGA has decided to postpone the 60th Rankine lecture, to be given by Professor Stephan Jefferis. The lecture was due to be held on 17th March 2021. However, BGA has been closely monitoring the situation and has decided, in the light of the continuing health risks of hosting large events posed by the pandemic, the lecture will be postponed.

We hope that conditions will improve, and restrictions be eased, during 2021. Therefore, the BGA plans to hold the 60th Rankine Lecture in September or October 2021. The date will be confirmed in due course. If it is possible to host large events at this time, the Rankine Dinner will follow the Lecture as usual.

It is currently planned to hold the 61st Rankine Lecture in March 2022. The name of the 61st Rankine Lecturer will be announced after Professor Jefferis’ lecture.
