The BGA Geotechnologist Network

The BGA Geotechnologist Network

The BGA considers that ‘Geotechnologist’ is a description of any skilled, knowledgeable and practical individual, with experience working in the Ground Engineering Industry, but not necessarily professionally qualified. This could apply to individuals carrying out activities including, but not limited to, site investigation, laboratory and field testing, field monitoring, geospatial mapping, dewatering, piling, grouting, numerical modelling, drafters of drawings etc. The field is wide open, and we do not pretend to know all the possibilities, which is why we want to encourage involvement from all who consider themselves a Geotechnologist, or who indeed aspire to be.

Accordingly, the BGA has established a Geotechnologist Network with the purpose of bringing such skilled and practical individuals together as a community within the BGA. We will stage events for geotechnologists such as talks, for and often by geotechnologists, and networking events. These will take place at times and places that are convenient for geotechnologists to attend.

Survey for the BGA Geotechnologist Network  – Deadline 31 January 2026

As the BGA continues to develop the Network, and to ensure our future plans reflect the views of the community, the BGA invites geotechnologists to take part in a short survey to share their insights and experiences across the industry.

This short survey is designed to understand the needs and interests of geotechnologists working across the ground engineering industry. The aim is to explore whether a dedicated community or network (such as the BGA Geotechnologist Network) would be valuable, and how best to support and connect geotechnologists in their careers. Your feedback will help shape future initiatives and ensure that geotechnologists — whether in the lab, on site, or in the field — have a stronger voice and greater recognition.

The deadline for responses is 31 January 2026.
