Awards Presented at BGA Annual General Meeting June 2025

The BGA presented awards at its Annual General Meeting during its Annual Conference on 25 June 2025.

BGA Medal

The paper authors received the 2024 BGA Medal from BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley. The 2024 BGA Medal has been awarded to the paper “High-resolution geophysical monitoring of moisture accumulation preceding slope movement—a path to improved early warning” by Jim Whiteley leading a team of 16 authors. The paper was published in Environmental Research Letters in 2024. Further details HERE.

 

BGA Case Histories Award

The paper authors received the 2025 BGA Case Histories Award from BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley. The 2025 BGA Case Histories Award has been  awarded to authors David Richards, William Powrie, and Anthony Blake for their paper “Full-scale tests on laterally loaded railway overhead line equipment mast foundations” published in Geotéchnique in 2023. BGA Masters Prize

The winner received the 2024 BGA Masters Prize from BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley. Michael Dixon of Durham University is the winner of the 2024 BGA Masters prize for his entry “Seepage in Unsaturated Soils Understanding Flow in Landfill Covers”. Further details HERE.

Skempton Medal

The Skempton Medal was awarded to Professor Chris Clayton of Southampton University. Further details HERE. The medal was presented by BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley to Mary Clayton, wife of Chris, who accepted it on his behalf.

BGA Cooling Prize

The winner received the 2025 BGA Cooling Prize from BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley. Alex Swallow of the University of Oxford won the 56th Cooling Prize for his presentation “Grout Injection in Open Caisson Construction” Further details HERE.

BGA Poster Competition

The winner received the 2025 BGA Poster Competion Prize from BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley. Yukun Ma of the University of Surrey for the poster “A novel foundation design for the hybrid offshore renewable energy harvest system” Further details HERE.
