The BGA is pleased to announce that the BGA Chair Yuli Doulala-Rigby has received the 2026 President’s Medal.

The President’s Medal is awarded annually to a person, whether or not a member, who has performed any service to the Institution, to civil engineers or to the profession of civil engineering, that has not otherwise been recognised. The President decides who receives the medal and particular regard is shown to service that reflects the priorities and objectives that the President has identified for their year in office.

Yuli Doulala Rigby has been recoginsed as an exceptional civil and geotechnical engineer whose distinguished career spans more than three decades of technical excellence, leadership, and service to the profession. As Chief Civil Engineer at Tensar International, Yuli has made a significant and lasting impact on infrastructure and ground engineering projects in the UK and internationally. Alongside her technical achievements, she is widely respected for her leadership and her commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and the future of civil engineering.

Through her involvement with ICE Connects: Women in Fellowship, Yuli has played a pivotal role in supporting and encouraging greater female representation at the highest levels of our Institution. In her current role as  Chair of the British Geotechnical Association shows not only of her technical authority, but of her standing within the profession and the inspiration she provides to current and future generations of engineers.

Yuli’s sustained dedication to mentoring, advocacy, and broadening participation within civil engineering exemplifies the values of ICE and the spirit of ICE President David Porter’s 2025-26 presidential theme of “You, Me and ICE.”
