Call for Nominations for the BGA Executive Committee

The call for nominations for members to stand for election for the British Geotechnical Association (BGA) Executive Committee is now open, and will close at noon on 22 April 2024.

In accordance with the Statutes and traditions of the BGA, the Executive Committee shall include nine members elected by members of the British Geotechnical Association by ballot.

In 2024 three committee members will retire after serving a 3-year term of office.

The BGA wishes to attract, onboard and accommodate any member (regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique etc.). If you fit the description of “enthusiastic BGA member who is keen to contribute toward our vibrant association” then you could be just what we need.

Civica Election Services (formerly known as Electoral Reform Services) is administering the nomination process on behalf of the British Geotechnical Association for their 2024 elections. BGA members should have received an email from Civica Election Services (formerly known as Electoral Reform Services) which is administering the nomination process on behalf of the British Geotechnical Association for their 2024 elections. The email includes a link to a nomination form. If you have not received the email and wish to make a nomination please contact the Honorary Secretary, Nick Armstrong n.armstrong@fugro.com

Each nomination must:

  • Include the candidate’s BGA Membership No.
  • Be supported by three BGA members.
  • Include a short CV or personal statement of around 300 words.

Nominations close at noon on Monday 22 April 2024.

If more than three persons are nominated, a ballot will be held, and the result will be declared at the Annual General Meeting.

The BGA normally expects that the expenses of Committee members will be funded by the member or their employer, but, in exceptional circumstances, the Association will contribute towards reasonable travelling and subsistence expenses within the UK (based on the most economic form of transport) where a committee member is unable to obtain such expenses from his or her employer or academic institution.

Details of the duties of Committee members can be obtained from the Honorary Secretary, Nick Armstrong n.armstrong@fugro.com
