The BGA is pleased to announce Blackwell Earthmoving as the Platinum Sponsor of Earthworks 2025

The annual spend on earthworks in the UK is believed to be in the order of £1bn-1.5bn. Phases 1 and 2 of HS2 will have 186 embankments and 109 cuttings covering over 250 route kilometres. Projects such as Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station and Havant Thicket Reservoir are also significantly adding to the earthmoving operations that are currently underway. However much of the knowledgebase is in practices developed decades ago and in people that have long-since retired. Following on from the BGA’s very successful Geo-resilience conference, Earthworks 2025 will focus primarily on the design and construction of new earthworks.

The Call for Abstracts is now open and contributions on the following primary themes will be welcome via the conference website HERE. The deadline for abstract submission is noon on Monday 2 December 2024.

  • Design of modern earthworks
  • Behaviour of engineered geo-materials

  • Monitoring of earthworks and risk management
