Cooling Prize Finalists Announced

Congratulations to the four finalists for the 2017 Cooling Prize:

Francesc Mirada (Arup) The Material Point Method in slope stability analysis

Vipul Kumar (Mott MacDonald) Development of 3D numerical models for optimisation of ground improvement zone for bored tunnels in marine clays

Ronan Royston (Oxford University) Monitoring the Construction of a Large-Diameter Caisson in Clay

Daniel Martinez Calonge (Imperial College) Investigating the thermal conductivity of London clay

The finalists will present their work at the University of Newcastle on the 21st March. While the judges deliberate the audience will hear a special lecture by Professor David Toll of the University of Durham.
