The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is the principal association for geotechnical engineers in the UK.
The BGA is very sad to hear that Dr. Richard (Dick) Parry died recently. Dick was the Secretary General of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) from 1981 to 1999. He was also a Fellow of Pembroke College Cambridge and keen historian. His books include some on “Engineering the Ancient World.” Our condolences go to his family.

Widely viewed as the most prestigious of the invited lectures in geotechnics and was first held in 1961.
