Dr R G ‘Jimmy’ James of Cambridge University died in June 2016 aged 84. He had been a member of the Cambridge Soil Mechanics Group since the early 1960s. David Muir Wood is preparing an obituary and would welcome anecdotes, reminiscences. appreciations. He hopes to include a full list of Jimmy’s publications – bibliographic details of any papers known to colleagues and students would be welcomed.
