This year’s BGA conference opens with a vibrant morning session bringing together UK and international experts, highlighting the organisation’s strong global connections.
Following a welcome from Chair Chaido (Yuli) Doulala-Rigby, keynote speaker Prof Francesca Casini (University of Rome Tor Vergata) will set the tone, joined by Prof Marcos Arroyo and Dr Tiago Gazspar, who will share insights into experimental and numerical research on clays. The session concludes with Dr Nicky de Battista discussing fibre optic sensing in civil infrastructure.
The morning continues with updates on major UK projects, including Sizewell C, the Geological Disposal Facility, and East West Rail. After lunch, the programme features the BGA AGM, prize presentations, and updates from the Early Careers Group and CIRIA, followed by talks focused on strengthening the future skills pipeline in geotechnical engineering.
The day concludes with a complimentary drinks reception in the Great Hall, offering excellent networking opportunities for all attendees and sponsors.
