The BGA is pleased to announce the winner of the 2017 Fleming Award.

The winner was selected at the Fleming Award evening on 6 December 2017, at the Institution of Civil Engineers, when the three shortlisted teams presented. The judges agreed that all three presentations were of a high standard and showcased three diverse projects.

The winning team was The PISA Project - Oxford University, Imperial College London, DONG Energy, Carbon Trust and SOCOTEC UK (formerly ESG) representing the many companies involved in the Project. The team was presented with certificates and prize money, sponsored by Cementation Skanska.

The other two shortlisted teams were the Pines Hotel Cliff Stabilisation Scheme (CH2M, Raymond Brown Construction, The Pines Hotel) and the Garrion Gill Slope Remediation Project (Network Rail Infrastructure Projects Scotland, QTS Group Limited, COWI UK Limited, Cementation Skanska, Datum Group).

The Fleming Award Competition is held annually to commemorate the life and work of the late Dr Ken Fleming, formerly Chief Engineer of Cementation Skanska. The award recognises excellence in the practical application of geotechnics in a project or a part of a project.
