The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is pleased to announce that Nick Armstrong of Fugro Geoservices has been appointed as Honorary Secretary. He takes over from Neil Smith, who has acted as Honorary Secretary since 1996. Neil will continue to support Nick over a transition period during the next few months.

Nick is a highly experienced geotechnical professional, and is currently Engineering and Reporting Manager at Fugro Geoservices.

BGA Chair Martin Preene said

The BGA relies on the work of its Honorary Officers and Committee Members. We are lucky to be able to have someone as capable as Nick in this key role.

I would also like to thank Neil Smith for his 21 years of service as Honorary Secretary, during that time the BGA has grown and modernised, and he has been instrumental in that success.’
