Professor George Gazetas announced as 59th Rankine Lecturer

The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is pleased to announce that the 59th Rankine Lecture will be given by Professor George Gazetas of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

He is Professor of Soil Mechanics and Dynamics in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and has special expertise and research interests in earthquake geotechnical engineering, soil dynamics and foundations.

Professor Gazetas commented “I am deeply honoured at having been selected by the British Geotechnical Association to deliver the 59th Rankine Lecture. It is a challenging task to even approach the level of excellence established by the previous renowned speakers in the nearly 60 year history of the Rankine Lecture”

The lecture will be at Imperial College in London on 20 March 2019.
