The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is pleased to announce that the 60th Rankine Lecture will be delivered by Professor Stephan Jefferis of Environmental Geotechnics Ltd.

Stephan Jefferis is a director of Environmental Geotechnics Ltd and Visiting Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.

Throughout his career he has worked between industry and academia focusing on rationalising the unusual and unexpected.

Professor Jefferis responded to the invitation and said ‘It is a special privilege to be selected by the British Geotechnical Association to deliver the 60th Rankine Lecture. During my career, I have attended almost every Rankine Lecture and I know what a challenge it presents. I am deeply honoured that the BGA has entrusted the 2020 lecture to me’.

The lecture will be at Imperial College in London on 18 March 2020.
