Rearranged date for the 60th Rankine Lecture

The 60th Rankine Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Stephan Jefferis, has been rearranged for 16th March 2022.

The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) recognises that the Rankine Lecture is a special event in the geotechnical calendar, usually attended by many international visitors. It is hoped that by delaying until March 2022 that the Rankine Lecture and the Rankine Dinner can be held in as normal a fashion as possible. However, the lecture will go ahead on this date whatever the circumstances, so if there is a deterioration in the Covid situation that does not allow for a physical event, the lecture will be broadcast on-line.

The title of Professor Jefferis’ lecture is ‘The Unusual and the Unexpected in Geotechnical Engineering’. Professor Toll, Chair of the BGA says “it is certainly unexpected that we have to delay the lecture by two years! We very much look forward to the lecture taking place in March next year and to finally be able to listen to Professor Jefferis’ important contributions to the field of geotechnical engineering”.
