The Inaugural BGA Annual Dinner and Lecture was a Great Success

The BGA Annual Dinner is a new addition to BGA’s annual calendar of events, and the first edition was a great success. This prestigious occasion was held on 26 September 2023, at the superb venue of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London, and brought together the geotechnical community for an evening of fine food, socializing and networking.

The evening included a drinks reception held before a lecture (in the Telford Lecture Theatre) by Professors John Burland and Jamie Standing on the underpinning of Winchester Cathedral, followed by a three course dinner in the Great Hall.

BGA Chair Dr Andrew Ridley said ‘This was a superb event to open the BGA season, my first as Chair. The atmosphere generated by 190 people in the Telford Theatre and Great Hall was amazing.’
