Dr Nick Barton to present on rock mechanics at BGA/EGGS evening meeting in February 2020

Dr Nick Barton, developer of the Q-system for classifying rock masses and renowned expert in rock mechanics, will present to a joint evening meeting of the BGA and EGGS in February 2020.

The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) is pleased to announce that Dr Nick Barton, developer of the Q-system for classifying rock masses and renowned expert in rock mechanics, will present to a joint evening meeting of the BGA and the Engineering Group of the Geological Society (EGGS) at the Institution of Civil Engineers in February 2020.

His lecture will be titled ‘The Many Faces of Q – Rock Mass Characterization for Tunnels, Caverns, Slopes, TBM Prognosis, Deformability, Shear Strength, Seismic Velocity, Permeability’
