48th COOLING PRIZE COMPETITION

to be held on

University of Newcastle

hosted by the

Northern Geotechnical Group

Featuring presentations from the four finalists:

  • Francesc Mirada (Arup) The Material Point Method in slope stability analysis
  • Vipul Kumar (Mott) Development of 3D numerical models for optimisation of ground improvement zone for bored tunnels in marine clays
  • Ronan Royston (Oxford University) Monitoring the Construction of a Large-Diameter Caisson in Clay
  • Daniel Martinez Calonge (Imperial College) Investigating the thermal conductivity of London clay

Plus a special lecture by Professor David Toll of Durham University.
