The UK is represented on ISSMGE Technical Committees relating to various geotechnical specialities.
At present (September 2019), the ISSMGE has 35 Technical Committee (TCs). They are grouped under the headings Fundamentals (7), Applications (19) and Impact on Society (9). A list of them can be found at on the ISSMGE website here.
Membership is open to any ISSMGE member with an active interest in the topic, but only two nominees from each National Group are Nominated Members, with voting rights. Others are Corresponding Members. The TCs do much very valuable work in their topics. Membership of a TC puts you in contact with others throughout the world who are working at the forefront of the topic.
If any BGA member would like to join any of the TCs (an individual can join more than one), simply contact the BGA via Shelagh.Fleming@ice.org.uk . Members (including Corresponding Members) must be added to the TC by their National Group unless nominated by the ISSMGE Technical Oversight Committee or the TC Chair.
