Synopsis

The topic of this webinar is to discuss Brian Sharkey's philosophy of treating his site operation as a laboratory, where, following the use of a new, or existing technology in new ground conditions; the soil and structural displacements, water ingress, soil stresses and driving forces are all carefully measured and recorded. This enables regular reviews to be conducted and performance assessed.

This process enables continuous improvement of the techniques applied, so to establish if any new techniques used provide additional safety or increased added value.

Speaker Biography

Brian Sharkey started his career at the age of 5, being regularly taken to construction sites by his engineer father, and engineer grandfather.

In 2023, Brian fulfilled a lifetime ambition to become Managing Director of a Tunnelling and Shaft Construction Contractor, this being with OneBore Tunnelling,

He brings to his leadership his passion for using the latest tunnelling and shaft-sinking techniques, with an insatiable appetite for continual learning and new knowledge.Within OneBore, he has developed a culture of documenting new techniques both applied and developed on-site during challenging construction operations.
