Dr Nick Barton, developer of the Q-system for classifying rock masses and renowned expert in rock mechanics, will present to a joint evening meeting of the BGA and EGGS in February 2020.
Dr R G 'Jimmy' James of Cambridge University died in June 2016 aged 84. He had been a member of the Cambridge Soil Mechanics Group since the early 1960s. David Muir Wood is preparing an obituary and would welcome anecdotes, reminiscences. appreciations. He hopes to include a full list of Jimmy's publications - bibliographic details of any papers known to colleagues and students would be welcomed.
The BGA is pleased to announce the shortlisted entries for the 2019 Fleming Award. The finalists will present at the Fleming Award evening on 4 December 2019, when a judging panel will select the winner.
